You'd be buying a pole
A cheap lamp is a stand and a socket. Whatever bulb you screw in decides how the room looks, and the one in most people's drawer is cold white. Ours come warm, and every lamp we make is the same warm.
You'd see the bulb
Thin plastic shades let the bulb glare straight through. Ours are thick pleated resin or frosted glass, so what you see is a soft glow instead of a bright spot.
You'd feel it the moment you touched it
A $39 floor lamp weighs about six pounds and rocks when you nudge it. Ours run 11 to 22 pounds, on marble, walnut and solid chrome.

Common questions
If it's really the same, why is it a sixth of the price?
We took out four companies, not four materials. A designer lamp pays the designer a fee on every one sold, then the brand, then the importer, then a store that usually doubles the price. We design ours, have them made in small batches, and ship them to you.
Isn't cheaper just cheaper? What's the catch?
The catch is the wait. Nothing sits in a warehouse, so it's made after you order and takes 3 to 4 weeks. What we didn't cut is the part you can check: real marble, walnut and glass, 11 to 22 pounds, and safety listings on every lamp.
Then why not just buy the $39 one?
For a spare room, go ahead. But a $39 lamp is a pole and a socket, and you supply the bulb. That's usually a cold white one that makes the room feel like an office at 9pm. Ours come warm, with a shade built so you see the glow and not the bulb.
Will it look cheap in person?
It's a fair worry, and it's why you get 30 days. These are heavy pieces and the shade is the whole design, not a cover stuck on a pole. Use it at night for a couple of weeks. If it doesn't hold up in your room, send it back and we'll pay the shipping.
How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?
Free anywhere in the US, with tracking. Most orders arrive in 3 to 4 weeks, because every lamp is made after you order it rather than pulled off a shelf. Returns are free too, for 30 days after it lands.
Does it need an electrician, or a special bulb?
No to both. Every lamp plugs into a normal outlet - no wiring, no installation, no conversation with your landlord. Several have the warm light built in, and the ones that take a bulb use a standard E27 fitting.
How big are they? Will it fit my room?
Floor lamps run 44 to 63 inches tall, so they read at standing height next to a sofa or in a corner. Table lamps are 8 to 13 inches. Every product page lists exact height, width and weight before you buy.
You don't need a logo on a lamp to make a room feel expensive.
